The Hollars, directed by and starring John Krasinski, is such a realistic family portrait that Sharlto Copley (District 9), who plays Ron Hollar, indicated that he learned a bit about life from his character. “I’ll stay with the wife, step one,” he explained to Gotham at the film's NYC debut in Chelsea. “In the film, I’m watching a new man [Josh Groban as Reverend Dan] intruding on my family, and I’m now having second thoughts about having gotten divorced.”

At a special screening of Author: The JT LeRoy Story, writer Laura Albert, who formerly used the pen name JT LeRoy, discussed famously using her sister-in-law to portray LeRoy in real life as an alter ego/avatar. “Oh, Savannah [Knoop],” she said of her sister-in-law, who impersonated LeRoy for several years. “She’s family. It was really hard for her, and she’s my son’s aunt, and it really felt to me like JT entered her body. And he [Savannah, while playing JT] always knew the difference between being Aunt Savannah and JT.”

Actress Natalie Portman attended the New York Premiere of A Tale of Love & Darkness at Crosby Street Hotel.
Natalie Portman was at the Crosby Street Hotel for a special screening of her directorial debut film, A Tale of Love and Darkness. She indicated that she found it “moving” when Amos Oz, the author of the novel that the movie was based on, was kind to her about her film.
