Alexander Calder's Circus at the Whitney

Calder's Circus
Friday, April 27, 1– 9 PM
After a long two-year hiatus, sculptor Alexander Calder's miniature circus is back in rotation at the Whitney Museum. The circus, made from household items like corks, wire, wood, and metal, is quite the sight to see. Catch its brief appearance before it's packed away again on the 30th. 945 Madison Ave.; whitney.org

The Loving Story
Saturday, April 28, 10 AM–6 PM
Richard and Mildred Loving were a biracial couple who challenged the state of Virginia to do away with its biracial marriage ban. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court (Loving vs. Virginia), where thankfully the court ruled all race-based marriage bans were unconstitutional. See moments from their life together in photographs by Grey Villet. International Center for Photography, 1133 Sixth Ave.; icp.org
