Each week, Gotham editor-in-chief Samantha Yanks curates the very best of what’s new in New York. Spend your weekend discovering the top places to shop, eat, and get healthy around the city….
At Tom Colicchio's Fowler & Wells in The Beekman, guests can now enjoy weekend brunch. Expect classic dishes like baked eggs with leeks, black truffle, garlic cream, and brioche, and porchetta with fried egg, cranberry beans, Niçoise olives, Swiss chard, and lemon confit. The Beekman, 5 Beekman St., 212-658-1848
Spring is the ideal time for an apartment refresh. I'm totally taken with Maiden Home, a new concept in custom furniture that will forever change the way consumers shop for their homes, which just launched on March 7. The collection is gorgeous, made of the highest quality with non-toxic materials, and sofas and chairs delivered in up to six weeks. All of the pieces were inspired by the classic charm of Manhattan’s West Village, the neighborhood CEO Nidhi Kapur calls home.
As a nostalgic nod to partner John McDonald's lauded Chinatown Brasserie, Lure Fishbar now offers dim sum brunch every Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m. Diners can order from an a la carte menu of dumplings, including steamed pork shumai, steamed lobster and pea shoots, and spring roll with shrimp and vegetable. May I also add that it’s a great restaurant to follow on Instagram (@lurefishbar)? 142 Mercer St., 212-431-7676
I've worked with the goop team and Gwyneth Paltrow many times and they’re always on point when it comes to health. Today, she launches goop Wellness, a collection of vitamin regimens aimed at providing targeted solutions for ailments that women struggle with most, from persistent fatigue to post-natal depletion. Each doctor was hand-picked by Paltrow and the goop team as the expert on a particular issue. The vitamins come conveniently prearranged in gorgeously presented—and cleverly named—daily packs and feature antioxidants, adaptogens and nutrients like magnesium, calcium, and omega 3s.
What a fab collab!!! For St. Patrick’s Day, two of New York’s biggest and most beloved institutions (both with decadent Insta feeds!) will team up for one epic burger. Katz’s Delicatessen’s (@katzsdeli) fifth-generation owner Jake Dell and Black Tap's (@blacktapnyc) chef/owner Joe Isidori created The Reuben Burger with a Pat La Frieda burger, Katz’s Deli corned beef and sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, pickles, and Black Tap’s special sauce. The Reuben Burger will be offered at all New York Black Tap locations from Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19 for $17. Multiple locations
I have known Maya Jankelowitz for so many years that I've lost track. She and her husband Dean run two of the hottest restaurants in the city: Jack's Wife Freda in the West Village and on Carmine. Inspired by their Jewish heritage and love of family, there’s nothing more welcoming than going in there for brunch. All of the illustrated menus, napkins, and place mats make it supremely Insta-friendly. Kudos to the duo who just launched their first book, Jack's Wife Freda: Cooking from New York's West Village, by Maya & Dean Jankelowitz. 50 Carmine St., 646-669-9888; 224 Lafayette St., 212-510-8550
