We sat down to chat with CEO Anthony Saniger about how he decided to enter such the space and what makes Standard Dose different.
CBD is a crowded space right now—why did you decide to start Standard Dose? ANTHONY SANIGER: When I started researching CBD over a year ago, I noticed there was a lot of confusion and misconception regarding its uses and benefits. There were brands making false, and often clearly exaggerated, claims about CBD and I saw an opportunity to be able to bring clarity and set a standard in the industry.
What’s your vetting process like for products? AS: We've internally tested over 250 different brands and curated our favorites. We furthermore require all brands to provide us with their lab tests to ensure product quality—the CBD used in the products we carry needs to be sourced from industrial hemp. Additionally, we do our own independent lab testing to ensure the information we are provided is accurate.
What do you think is the biggest misconception about CBD? AS: The biggest misconception is that CBD will get you high. There’s a stigma associated with cannabis, but unlike the cannabinoid THC, CBD does not have psychotropic effects. That’s why we love it; we can harness all of the benefits of cannabis and still stay balanced throughout the day.
What are you most excited about now that the launch is under your belt? AS: I'm excited to share our knowledge about CBD and create a space that offers natural options for relieving stress, pain, and anxiety on a daily basis. I've seen CBD make a difference in the lives of so many people around me and I'm excited to be able to expand the conversation and to offer trusted CBD products that have been verified and tested. I'm also enjoying the process of developing a holistic wellness approach through our retail experiences, the first of which we're launching in New York this spring.
