New York Fashion Week is right around the corner and the runway will soon be filled with the colors and textures that we all know and love. Here are five makeup trends to keep an eye out for on the catwalk.
James Vincent, Beauty Editor for On Makeup Magazine and Galore Magazine, tells us that for this season’s fashion week, “the naturals and nudes are an exciting and expected reaction to the glitter, gloss, and bright color pops of last season.” The bare look works for every season, enhancing the model’s natural features by adding a flawless glow to the skin while still accenting the eyes and lips with soft shading and subtle shine.
From feathered brows to brow carving to microblading, dynamic brows will always be trendy. Celebrity makeup artist Tim Mackay shares that “brows are my favorite trend at the moment... I like when a woman or a man lets their eyebrows grow out and then they have them shaped accordingly. That way they are full but have style and personality.” Expect a focus on the model’s facial features rather than the boldly penciled and overly unkempt by recognizing the difference between heavy brows and full brows.
No, we’re not talking Stranger Things. We’re talking about a trend that makeup artist and hairstylist T. Cooper tells us that some celebrities, even Shay Mitchell, have already begun to embrace. “It’s where you add a pop of color using eyeliner, eyeshadow, or even both on the lower lid. If done correctly, it really brings out your eyes, and brightens up your entire face.” This look is the perfect way to experiment with different accents of color on the runway, fitting well with a bold or even natural lip.
Contrary to the no-makeup makeup look yet no less effective in the spotlight, bold and electrifying is another daring trend to be seen. From sunset eyes to intricately applied graphic liner to mirror glossy eyelids, Vincent tells us that “makeup wearers are loving the unexpected experimentation” and “hopes to see a combination of trends.” In addition to the sleek and neat winged liner we know and love, expect some unexpected abstract looks and models rocking the theatrics and color on the runway.
