Hilaria Baldwin is an enigma. She somehow manages to raise four children under the age of six in New York City while looking totally put together and becoming a lifestyle expert. So, when we got the chance to chat with her this past week as part of her recent partnership with Jet.com, we made the 34-year-old spill her secrets. Here’s how she flawlessly keeps it all together.
1. Alec Keeps The House Clean
Hilaria’s husband, Alec Baldwin, might have a busy acting career but that doesn’t stop him from getting out of chores around the house. “Alec is actually a very, very, very good cleaner,” the mom of four told us. “You would be surprised by how much he does the dishes and gets down on his hands and knees to clean the floor. He even goes a little bit crazy where he’ll start to organize the kids’ toys.”
As far as keeping on top of buying the household essentials, Hilaria relies on Jet.com for shopping. “If I see that we’re missing diapers, I can easily order them,” she says. “Or, if we need more produce, I can use Jet City Grocery. The quality is great, the packaging isn’t wasteful, and it’s just super, super convenient! That’s important for a busy mom.”
2. All Activities Are In A Couple Block Radius
While it might seem a little crazy to raise four tots in The Big Apple, Hilaria believes it actually makes her life very convenient. “There are a lot of pluses about raising kids in New York City especially since everything is pretty walkable,” she says. “You end up living within a couple of block radius of your house, and so we have our coffee shop, our kids’ schools, our kids' play space, our grocery store. Whatever you need is pretty central in New York, so it’s great.”
3. She Doesn’t Wash Her Hair… Often
Every time you look at the former yoga instructor’s Instagram, her hair is perfectly coiffed. “My secret is I know an amazing man named Joseph Bennett, who now works at Leonardo Rossi salon,” she said. “But, I did get the Beachwaver, and I learned how to do my hair this summer. I don’t wash my hair with shampoo more than three times a week. So, that makes a big difference too.”
4. She Wears Shoes That Are A Little Big
Along with having a maintained mane, Hilaria also is photographed walking around the city wearing high heels. How is that possible when the rest of us pack sneakers to wear to and from work? “My trick with heels is that I buy my shoes a little bit too big,” she says. “Sometimes my shoe does go flying to be quite honest. But, I don’t know, I like them.”
5. The Kids Sleep In Her Bedroom (Until They’re One)
It seems like every New York City mom is trying to get her baby to sleep through the night. There are even whole support groups dedicated to it. But Hilaria has a trick for getting some quality shuteye. “My babies don’t sleep through the night,” she says. “All my kids have slept with me during their first year of life because I nurse. I didn’t have the energy to get up and put them down. It was just too much. So, I call it ‘Open Bar.’ He can just nurse on demand and I can kind of doze.
She adds, “That being said, I’m a stationary sleeper, and I am a very light sleeper, so I don’t worry about it being a danger because co-sleeping is not for everyone.”
