Hannah Bronfman DJs R Baby Foundation's event on July 23.
Hannah Bronfman has a lot going on—the native New Yorker’s list of accomplishments includes acclaimed DJ, cofounder of the Beautified beauty booking app, model, and Instagram favorite for her homemade recipes and wellness tips. On July 23, Bronfman will DJ a benefit for the R Baby Foundation, the premier nonprofit focused on improving emergency care for babies. The event, R Baby Rocks! (5:30 p.m.; purchase tickets on rbabyfoundation.org), will see Bronfman performing alongside A Great Big World, Mary Lambert, DJ Cassidy, and Ryan Star at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
We caught up with Bronfman for six quick questions on the event, how she decides what she’s spinning, and what she’s up to this summer.
Tell us how you got involved with R BABY. HANNAH BRONFMAN: The R Baby team reached out and asked if I wanted to be a part of the event. I’m a big supporter of charities in the city, including Publicolor and SHARE, so the chance to help out a great cause is always so exciting! This event is all about improving pediatric care so it’s great to be involved and perform alongside a great roster of artists.
How do you match your songs to a specific event’s mood and purpose? HB: I rarely plan sets beforehand. Usually I go into the event early to feel out the vibe of the client, see how the crowd is, and make my judgments based off that.
What songs do you plan to play at the R Baby Rocks! event? HB: Definitely loving Lana del Rey and Beyoncé, always. [I plan to play] a few new songs from new artists that I think everyone will know soon, like Future Islandsand Dutch Party.
Any thoughts on the other artists you’re performing with? HB: Very excited to be included with DJ Cassidy. Love him and can’t believe I’ll be on the same bill as him!
What is your favorite part about summer in New York? Where do you hang out? HB: The city really quiets down during the summer, so I'm able to focus on seeing my family and friends and getting in a solid workday. I love Ellary’s Greens (33 Carmine St., 212-920-5072) for a midday pick-me-up smoothie and Clarins (247 Columbus Ave., 212-362-0190) for a refreshing facial, which I always book through Beautified.
Tell us what to expect next from you. HB: I’ve got a lot in the works both personally and with my company, Beautified. Keep your eye on me through my Instagram, @hannahbronfman.
