Thursday: Lindsey Vonn Pulls Up in an Audi A8; Gwyneth at The Broad Museum
On Thursday last week, The Broad Museum’s inaugural dinner drew an A-list art crowd with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Julian Schnabel.
And Audi celebrated Emmy Week 2015 with a fête at Cecconi's on Thursday. Guests like Lindsey Vonn and Jesse Tyler Ferguson arrived in new Audi A8 L TDI, and delicious mini burgers were served.
Friday: Jane Krakowski Hugs It Out with Uzo Aduba; Nikki Reed & Ian Somerhalder’s Pets
On Friday, Heifer hosted their Fourth Annual Beyond Hunger Gala at the Montage Beverly Hills. Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are so passionate about animals that they have ten at home (some adoptable), including a few in their bathtub. Uzo Aduba mugged with a llama here.
Variety and Women in Film hosted their hip pre-Emmy celebration at Gracias Madre with vegan-Mexican fare on Friday. We encountered Julie Bowen, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Paula Abdul. Fiji water, a sponsor, also provided water at the Emmys, which was a godsend with the soaring temperatures.
Also on Friday, Entertainment Weeklyhosted their pre-Emmy party at Fig & Olive, sponsored by L’Oreal. Guests included NeNe Leakes and Gwendoline Christie—who is that tall and then some in person. We also spotted Jane Krakowski hugging it out with Uzo Aduba.
Saturday: Lydia Hearst’s Huge Engagement Ring; Matt LeBlanc’s Mistaken Identity
On Saturday, the National Women's History Museum event honored Viola Davis, among others, at their Fourth Annual Women Making History Event. Actress Lydia Hearst, who recently got engaged to Chris Hardwick, was sporting her grandmother's knuckle-sized diamond engagement ring.
That afternoon, the sun burned down at the mainly outdoor BAFTA tea party, which featured cucumber sandwiches and scones. Stephen Merchant from Hello Ladies had a soaring blonde on his arm. Ed Westwick wore velvet slippers with tassels.
That night at the Showtime Emmy soiree at Sunset Tower Hotel, Episodes' Matt LeBlanc mentioned that a fan had recently asked if he was, "Joey's grandfather." Shameless’ William H. Macy said that when he has time off, he takes off on a motorcycle.
Emmy Sunday: Who Felt Sick & Sweaty From the Heat Wave; Who Partied on After the Show
Emmy Sunday was a scorcher. Mario Lopez brought four tux shirts, and had managed to sweat through one by noon. Stars, including Lady Gaga, rushed down the carpet at Microsoft Theater before they melted.
Diamante handcuffs bound the Ernst & Young LLP accountants, who oversee the votes, to their metal briefcases.
With the temperatures rising, a team of paramedics raced down the carpet. We overheard Allison Janney say she wasn’t sure she could continue.
In the press room after winning the Outstanding Variety Talk Series Emmy for The Daily Show, Jon Stewart kidded that his future involvement in politics would encompass ranting at his TV screen.
Jon Hamm, who won an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama, said that it took a minute to figure out that the standing ovation was for him, not his stunt, which was climbing onto the stage.
Tracy Morgan, who made a comeback after a car accident last year, explained that Louis C.K. had helped with his speech. He told a joke about a polar bear breaking the ice in the press room.
Biggest surprise? A McDonald’s mobile unit was stationed on the roof, near the awards storage. And on the way to my car, George R.R. Martin whizzed by on the back of a golf cart.
Amazon celebrated the Transparent wins on The Rooftop at The Standard. Jeffrey Tambor held his award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
But the HBO bash truly slayed with Viola Davis and Peter Dinklage brandishing their statuettes. For the party’s Hades theme, HBO decorated 40-foot walls with red sequined fabric and a giant video of flames. Julianne and Derek Hough were busting moves on a steamy dance floor while the DJ flailed his arms. Julia Louis-Dreyfus was hoisting around two Emmys for Veep. And, FYI, Zac Posen's date was Naomi Campbell.
