Loving Scandal: Tuesday, Oct. 29, Carole Radziwill, Nanette Lapore, Richard Johnson, and PR legends Ken Sunshine and Howard Rubenstein were among the revelers at André Balazs' fête for George Rush and Joanna Malloy’s sexy, gossipy book, Scandal: A Manual (Skyhorse), at The Standard’s Boom Boom Room. The day before the party, Courtney Love asked Rush if Halloween costumes were required. "I could just throw on a slip, smear my lipstick, and be '90s me!" she offered.
Fire and Ice: Wednesday, Oct. 30, pro skiers Tommy Moe, Jonny Moseley, Tom Wallisch, and Billy Demong downed wings and craft beer while taking in the World Series at Firehouse Tavern on the Upper West Side. That night, back at Boom Boom Room, Larry and Michele Herbert and Alan and Marla Helene hosted a private party for HBO’s Seduced and Abandoned, a film by Alec Baldwin and James Toback about their antics at Cannes.
Italian Clique: Thursday, Oct. 31, Eva Cavalli, wife of fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, convened at B & Co for dinner with Luca Luca designer Luca Orlandi, Giuseppe Cipriani, and Benny Shabtai.
Studio Lives: Saturday, Nov. 2, Carmen D’Alessio, of Studio 54 fame, was shaking it at the Day & Night brunch at Highline Ballroom. Later, Nashville star Hayden Panettiere wore jeans and a tank top for a late dinner with her fiancée, pro boxer Wladimir Klitschko, at TAO Downtown. Also spotted at TAO: Susan Sarandon and young beau Jonathan Bricklin and 6’11 New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire (how could you miss him?).
Prelude to Kanye: Monday, Nov. 4, the couple that America loves to hate, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Dissick, drew stares at TAO Downtown. However, the big TAO sighting came later in the week, on Sunday, Nov. 10, as Kanye West, Kim's fiancé, performed for Leonardo DiCaprio's 39th birthday. Also on Monday, The Accessories Council presented its 17th annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards at Cipriani 42nd Street. Designer of the year Phillip Lim designed his own jacket. Rag and Bone's designers wore Rag and Bone, natch, with one exception, according to David Nevil, “apart from my boxer shorts,” he said. Nicky Hilton, in Valentino, had a touch of pink lipstick on her dress. Tory Burch, in Pierre Cardin, presented Vogue’s Hamish Bowles with the Marylou Luther Journalism Award.
The Box: Wednesday, Nov. 6, back at Cipriani 42nd Street, Tory Burch was honored at the Phoenix House Fashion Awards, which raised, $1.5 million. Guests dined on short ribs and tiramisu. And some of the Tiffany blue mystery boxes (available for $150) had special gifts indeed: A men’s tank watch, Atlas bangle, and Tiffany 1837 cuff. Same night, Moschino Loves Disaronno celebrated at The Westway. I spotted a possibly over-served Jenny McCarthy voguing with drag queens. Love her.
Lipps Service: Thursday, Nov. 7, during a cold snap, drummer and One Model Management owner Scott Lipps signed copies of his book, POPLIPPS: Plus One (powerHouse), in The Strand book department of the new Club Monaco flagship on Fifth Avenue. Lipps said Courtney Love wrote the foreword in like five minutes, but it’s great. “I’m freezing,” said Kelly Rutherford out front. And Greta Gerwig told Gotham, “This is Club Monaco . . . I wanted to wear a sweater for warmth.”
