A third-generation ironsmith, Frank Carfaro was introduced to the craft as a youngster. “When I was three years old,” he says, “my great-grandfather, who came to the US from Turin, Italy, in 1921, had me out in the shop with him learning how to work with iron. I was hooked.”

As founder and chief designer for the sleek shelter brand Desiron, Carfaro not only sets trends with his minimalist style, but also offers something other collections can’t—a craftsman heritage and family pride. Every element of Desiron’s skilled fabrication, from metalwork to upholstery, is produced locally in its Kenilworth, New Jersey, factory, and shown in its elegant Soho showroom.
