Party Girl
Our favorite party-planning company, Save the Date, has expanded its services to include children’s events. We asked owner and founder Jennifer Gilbert for her expert party tips on how to throw the ultimate children’s Halloween bash.

KEEP PARTIES SHORT AND SWEET, with activities in 20-minute segments. Children get bored easily, so the event needs to flow quickly to keep their attention.

OVERSTAFF. If there are enough helpers, there can be a bit of fun downtime for the adults.

REMEMBER: MORE IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER when it comes to activities or games. It’s okay to keep it simple!

CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT with lights, jack-o’-lanterns, and spiderwebs, and involve sensory experiences for older children.

HIRE A FACE PAINTER to enhance the kids’ costumes.

HAVE A PHOTO SPOT—it’s a party must. Create a Halloween photo backdrop and use an instant camera to get pictures fast, and you have a take-home present for both parents and children.

FOR A FINALE, TRY A PARADE to let the kids show off their Halloween costumes.
