The Bold and the Beautiful
It’s wonderfully fitting that Marni has selected a former art gallery to house its second Gotham City flagship. The vibrant collection of clothes, shoes, accessories and lingerie is displayed like modern art among flowing abstract shapes in polished stainless steel and Plexiglas. No need to be an art collector to appreciate these fun and colorful masterpieces. Marni, 21 East 67th Street, 212-257-6907

Minimalist Moment
Fashion industry darling and designer extraordinaire Derek Lam has finally opened his first New York City boutique. Designed by Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA— the same minds behind the nearby New Museum—the space is a study in minimalism, with whitewashed brick walls and a concrete floor. But it’s his feminine designs, of course, that steal the spotlight. Derek Lam, 10–12 Crosby Street, 212-966-1616

Star-Studded
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to step into a jewelry box, hurry to the new Solange Azagury-Partridge boutique on Madison. After entering through a gold door, you find yourself in a moodily lit space with 630,000 sparkling Swarovski crystals embedded in the walls and a ceiling encrusted with zodiac constellations. The jewels themselves, of course, are presented with equal drama: in mini stage sets encased in antique frames. Pinch yourself: This shopping experience feels like a dream. Don’t be surprised if you run into Nanette Lepore fans like Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson at the designer’s newest outpost on the Upper East Side. This is Lepore’s 10th freestanding shop worldwide, and here you’ll find her full line of ready-to-wear and shoes, as well as the fragrance collection. Our pick is this ethnic-inspired bib necklace, the perfect accent to any ensemble. Nanette Lepore, 958 Madison Avenue, 212-452-3056
