GOTHAM: How long have you been designing jewelry?
JACK VARTANIAN: Since 1999.

G: What inspires you?
JV: Two things - one is daily life: architectural details, fashion, movies.... And the other is stones. I use a lot of different types, and sometimes the stones themselves inspire some desires.

G: What is "quintessential Vartanian"?
JV: The plissé vintage look.

G: Who is the woman you design for?
JV: She's a woman with attitude.... chic and a little sexy.

GOTHAM: How long have you been designing jewelry?
DONALD HUBER: My love for beautiful jewelry began when I started collecting colored gemstones as a child. My fate was sealed in high school when I started produc- ing my own jewelry designs. After studying at Parsons and designing apparel and accessories in Seattle, I moved back to New York to follow my passion for designing jewelry.

G: What inspires you?
DH: Growing up in Florida, I was inspired by the sculptural forms of the ocean and the beauty of nature. The movement of the waves, the shapes of shells and leaves, and the changing colors of the sky over the ocean deeply influence my designs.

G: What is “quintessential Huber”?
DH: I design my jewelry with vivid gemstones, brilliant diamonds, and rich gold. The collection embodies my sense of color and balance, blended with the fluidity of sculpture. Each piece is hand-sculpted and honed to perfection in my New York studio.
G: Who is the woman you design for?
DH: She’s modern and confident in her status and style. I understand that jewelry is the highest form of luxury and personal expression for a woman. My pieces have both daytime chic and nighttime sophistication; each is an elegant statement.
