Royal Favor

Dior’s Sultane ring is a one-of-a-kind piece designed under creative director Victoire de Castellane. Part of the Harem collection, the ring was created as a tribute to Angelique and the Sultan, a French film of the 1960s starring Michele Mercier. The cabochon-cut aquamarine, offset by the circular motif set in diamonds and white gold, exemplifies the collection while representing the jewels offered by the sultan to his favorite.

Queen Coco

Chanel’s latest high jewelry collection, Contrastes, plays on juxtapositions in color, shape, and design. Created with Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in mind, the designs embrace her favorite motifs, such as her famous use of black and white. The Perles de Rosée necklace employs round forms to create a circular design, with white diamonds, black and gray spinels, moonstones, and pearls that create a dramatic degrade affect. The exclusive, elusive piece travels between Paris and other Chanel venues for special occasions, making appearances in New York on Madison Avenue upon request.

American Aristocracy

The Ralph Lauren women’s flagship on Madison Avenue is the sole purveyor of Ralph Lauren Fine Jewelry, which launched in 2010. The exclusive collection, while limited, reflects the designer’s signature styles with equestrian, modern Art Deco, and classic chunky chain-link pieces. The diamond link bracelet, fit for an American heiress, evokes timeless American fashion at its finest.

Equestrian Heir

Gucci celebrates 40 years of watchmaking this year, and for the Italian luxury label, fine jewelry and watches go hand in hand, both in history and in design. The horse bit, one of the house’s most memorable motifs, was reimagined in beryl and diamond earrings, one of the most rare pieces in the current collection. The showstopping pair totals 18 carats among the two beryls and 96 brilliant-cut diamonds.

A Bit of Royalty

The longtime chairman and artistic director of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas, created Nausicaa, a masterpiece of white gold and diamonds with smoky quartz, which became an instant classic in the 1970s. The refined families of the era immediately took note of the bracelet’s snaffle-bit design, cabochon clasped between its rings. Nausicaa’s name may have been inspired by the ocean, but it is crafted for an audience able to appreciate both the subtlety and splendor of its design.

Prince Charming

This season marks 15 years of New York designer Marc Jacobs at the helm of French fashion maison Louis Vuitton. While an exhibit at Les Arts Décoratifs Museum in Paris and an accompanying tome commemorate this milestone in the grandest manner, Marc Jacobs looked toward the charm bracelet for a more intimate (though equally spectacular) approach. The pre-fall fine jewelry collection recalls a charm bracelet Jacobs created for the house in 2001. In this series, artistic director of fine jewelry Lorenz Bäumer was inspired by the famous French designer Charlotte Perriand as well as classic motifs from the maison, such as the monogram and militaristic, modernist chain motifs.
