Diane Kruger Teams with Jaeger-LeCoultre

Recently Diane Kruger was in New York for a very special engagement. The German-born model and film star was selected by luxury watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre to be the face of the brand’s new women’s watch line called Rendez-Vous. “I love the idea of the rendezvous, the secret,” says Kruger of both the concept of the hidden tryst and of the glamorous new collection. “This watch is brand-new and very classic.”
Known for her individual style and fashion sense, Kruger says that she chooses what she wears with great care. “Watches are very important because they’re not just a piece to tell me what time it is; they’re a part of my everyday attitude—an obvious reflection of one’s personality,” says the glamorous trendsetter, who wore a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch from the 1800s to this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala. “A watch is something very personal. For me, it is something understated; it shouldn’t be too obvious. I love to discover a watch, to really have to look at it to appreciate its beauty and the way it was made.”
Kruger, who has played many different personalities on film, from the spy Bridget von Hammersmark in Inglourious Basterds to Helen in Troy, says that she is always seeking the right balance between her personal and business life. “In my professional life, it’s very important to be on time,” she says. “Also, I am German, so it’s part of my DNA. It’s a funny thing because in my private life, I actually like to forget about time.”
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous line consists of approximately 30 different feminine, round-cased watches (in two sizes) that take their inspiration from the Art Deco era. The Rendez-Vous Night/Day watch, which Kruger wears, offers a stunning rendition of night moon and stars or daytime sun in the aperture at 6:00. Every watch is studded with 60 Top Wesselton VVSI diamond brilliants on the bezel for ultimate shimmer. The Night/Day is automatic, but there is also a quartz date watch for those who prefer it. Haute joaillerie and haute horlogerie versions are being unveiled soon, including the Wild Rose model, which has a rose-patterned mother-of-pearl dial, and a stunning Tourbillon Enamel piece.
