After leaving a career on Wall Street to make time for a family, Jennifer Esposito found a new calling: advising her friends on everything from window treatments to wallpaper. “I have this innate sense of design because it’s my passion,” says Esposito. “I’ve always wanted to know what’s out there, what’s new, what’s fresh.”
Propelled by that passion, Esposito launched a furniture line called Jenny’s Blocks—sophisticated multipurpose pieces inspired by children’s building blocks. Her three young boys’ constant energy and lack of play space in their Tribeca loft sparked the line’s signature piece, an ottoman that unfolds origami-style into two rocking chairs and four children’s seats. The kid-friendly dense foam makes for a rough-and-tumble jungle gym by day; and luxe fabrics transform the blocks into a sleek centerpiece by night.
No two blocks are alike, and Esposito conducts in-depth interviews with her clients to create furniture that matches specific lifestyles. One customer, a four-year-old with a penchant for all things pink, loves rearranging her Jenny’s Blocks (fuchsia and feather-covered) into a ballet stage. “At the end of the day I don’t want a cookie-cutter look,” Esposito says. “Some people like to have signature designs that they can reproduce in the same way every time, and it’s beautiful, but it’s not special to the family. I want my clients to come into their home and feel at peace.”
Her other product line, The Invisible Pillow, features custom-made, child-friendly zippered lounge pillows that make for perfect plush-toy storage. Want more? Esposito also creates mobiles out of glass beads, Swarovski crystals, and other luxurious materials on a case-by-case basis and even offers photography and wall art.
