It is the rare individual who can marry business acumen with the keen eye of design, but Charles S. Cohen, owner, president and chief executive officer of Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation and the man behind the remarkable revitalization of the D & D (Decoration & Design) Building on Third Avenue, never tires of trying.

“Good design and good real estate are a natural match resulting in a better project,” Cohen says. “Often the most formidable challenge is matching the right aesthetic in each project. Design must respect and complement real estate.”

The real estate magnate knows a little something else about how a natural match results in a better overall project: In his life away from high-powered real estate deals, Cohen found his perfect complement in his wife of five years, Clo Cohen.

Born in South Africa, Clo attended school in England and spent seven years working in public relations for Gucci in London. In 2003, she left to open a press office for Jimmy Choo in New York. Now balancing her time as an at-home mother to the couple’s sons Rex, three, and Blake, one, Clo continues to do freelance marketing and public relations strategy consulting for luxury goods companies, as well as writing beauty and fashion articles for magazines worldwide.

“Charles bounces ideas off me all the time. I can give him a different perspective on things,” she says. “Marriage is a partnership. I’ve had a great many business partners over the years, but never one as wonderful and dynamic as Charles.” Visit cohenbrothersrealty.com.
