Try a dry manicure: “Your nails are porous, and if you soak too long they can absorb the water and even change shape, which creates stress on the polish and can cause peeling and chipping.”
Go easy on the cuticles: “Use an orangewood stick and gently create a shape to the cuticle—don’t shove it back. I use a two-way buffer to exfoliate along the cuticle so the rough bits are smoothed off.”
Keep nails moisturized: “If you use a really good cuticle oil, like jojoba oil, it can keep your nails moist and flexible. Hard nails chip, flake and crack.”
