What do taxicabs, sunglasses and DVF have in common? They are distinctively iconic images that come together in a clever video announcing the launch of Diane von Furstenberg’s eyewear collection.

As president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and designer extraordinaire, von Furstenberg is an idol and role model to aspiring designers and young women, maintaining her design integrity and simultaneously commanding a worldwide retail presence. Her new eyewear collection features classic frames with characteristic DVF details, such as the lip and love knot, as well as shades inspired by her iconic wrap dress.

Honoring the city that has enriched her work, von Furstenberg filmed the video in a NYC taxi, outfitted to replicate her boutique. “We wanted to do something that was fun, surprising and quintessentially New York. I wish I could have kept [the taxi],” the designer enthuses. “New York is constantly inspiring me—the people, the architecture, the spirit. It is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the world, and I never tire of it.” We couldn’t agree more.
