MY FAMILY HAS BEEN INVOLVED with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center for decades, but I came to truly appreciate the facility when my daughter, Sienna, was born there three years ago. It was amazing to be in an environment where everyone—volunteers, aides, nurses, doctors—is committed to delivering the best care in a warm and compassionate environment. So I had to say yes when I was asked to become involved with the medical center and its gala event, Cabaret.
Each year the center treats thousands of patients, many of whom are on Medicaid or Medicare or are uninsured. It’s comforting to know that everyone who walks through the doors will receive the highest-quality care, regardless of their ability to pay. However, it’s philanthropy that moves the medical center from good to great and makes possible the strides it’s known for within the healthcare system.
On October 22 NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center will hold Cabaret at the World Financial Center Winter Garden. Guests will be treated to the talents of Jon Stewart, the comedian and host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, and will dance to the music of the Bob Hardwick Sound. Proceeds from Cabaret benefit both the medical college and the hospital by supporting the ongoing work of the medical center in patient care, research, and medical education. NewYork- Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center’s Cabaret takes place on Wednesday, October 22, at the World Financial Center Winter Garden, 2 World Financial Center.
