FROM LEFT: 1872 Perfume; Victoria Christian; No. 1 clutch by Clive Christian
Though she started in 2002 as a self-described “perfume spritzer” at Bergdorf Goodman, today Christian is head of global marketing and PR for her father’s luxury fragrance and handbag company, Clive Christian. While she lives in her hometown of London, it’s clear that the Big Apple holds a very special place in Christian’s heart.
Bars: In the winter, Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle
Neighborhood: I’m an Upper East Side girl.
Can’t live without: A black polo shirt, a pair of Jimmy Choo camel-colored pumps, my black patent Clive Christian X handbag
Personal style: During the day, something simple and with a strong silhouette, usually in black. At night I adore a splash of color.
What do you love about NYC? The skyline makes you feel like you’re in a movie with every step… it’s so energetic, it’s like the city is reminding you to live each moment to the best of your ability. I don’t think there is anywhere on the planet to match it.
To give this season: A Clive Christian No. 1 clutch
Holiday wish list: Hunter Ascot or Mayfair leather boots are beautiful.
FROM LEFT: The new Banana Republic store in Soho; Simon Kneen; look by Banana Republic
Kneen has served as creative director and executive vice president of design for Banana Republic since January 2008, but he’s worked in the fashion industry for more than 20 years. This Liverpool native lends his international eye to the perennially chic label to great results.
Breakfast: The new Ace Hotel on 29th Street or Balthazar
Shopping: Banana Republic’s exciting new flagship in Soho. Also Unis, Steven Alan, Save Khaki and Stock Vintage
Can’t live without: White shirts
Personal style: I like to look put together in an effortless way—high and low, like a handtailored blazer with busted denim, or a vintage pair of alligator brogues with my chinos.
What do you love about NYC? Everything! The good and the bad are what make this city so unique. I love living here because it makes you feel alive.
To give this season: Books and music are my choices; they are so personal.
Holiday wish list: A great-escape vacation— St. Barth’s, somewhere sunny. I think everyone can use a little sunshine this holiday season!
FROM LEFT: Dress by Thakoon; Jessica Joffe; Shoe by Derek Lam
NYC-based model and writer Joffe is a front-row fixture at Fashion Week and a modern style icon. One part hippie and plenty of hip, we love how she consistently weaves her unique boho spin into chic dressing for any event.
Designers: Thakoon, Scott Sternberg, Gaby Basora, Richard Chai and Katy Rodriguez
Shoes: Derek Lam and Converse
Jewelry: David Yurman, Philip Crangi and Fenton
Can’t live without: Made in Heaven jeans and Tucker blouses
Personal style: Carefully artless
Holiday wish list: I’m still waiting for a Falabella from my wish list five years ago. If that’s too complicated, a miniature Vietnamese potbellied pig will just as well.
To give this season: I can’t say what gifts I’m giving! I don’t want to build expectations unnecessarily.
FROM LEFT: J. Crew cashmere sweaters; Frank Muytjens; Timex watches at J. Crew
As the VP of men’s design at J.Crew, Muytjens mixes vintage aesthetics with contemporary looks. Prior to this, he spent eight years as design director of outerwear at Polo Ralph Lauren. With a résumé like this, it’s no surprise that Muytjens is so highly regarded in the fashion industry.
Music: Second Hand Rose Music for vintage ’80s records
Personal style: I try to put different worlds together in one outfit, like pairing white vintage painter pants with new wingtips, or a frayed denim shirt with a navy suit. Disheveled is good, but it has to look effortless.
NYC inspiration: The energy, the cultural possibilities, and how one part of the city can feel totally different from the next
Can’t live without: My Levis XX
Holiday wish list: A pair of Danner hiking boots, The Smiths singles box set, a vintage corkscrew for my collection, Mister Freedom waxed-cotton motorcycle jacket and a J.Crew rugged twill weekend bag
To give this season: J.Crew cashmere sweaters and socks, a sterling silver tie bar, J.Crew and Rogues Gallery graphic tees and a J.Crew and Timex watch
Liz Cohen and Jennifer Raines
FROM LEFT: Look by Magaschoni; Jennifer Raines (LEFT) and Liz Cohen; R&Y Augousti shagreen pictures frames
With their New York-based firm, Cohen Raines, celebrating seven years and currently representing top fashion brands like H.Stern, R&Y Augousti and Jay Ahr, Cohen and Raines are PR reps extraordinaire. They know the industry inside and out, and these are two tastemakers whose opinions we—and much of the fashion world—really trust.
Food: Chocolate soufflé almost anywhere— I’m a dessert girl!
Shopping: Barneys and Bergdorf’s, Miu Miu, Prada and Vera Wang, to name a few!
Can’t live without: This winter I’ll have to say my YSL coat and Magaschoni cashmere.
Personal style: Trying to perfect the balance of dressing between “mommy wear” and work wear—J Brand jeans, James Perse T-shirt, Prada coat and a Jay Ahr scarf
What do you love about NYC? I was born and raised here, my family is here, my friends are here…. I’ve always lived in the same eight-block radius. New York is my life!
To give this season: Tips to the fabulous doormen, a computer for my daughter, a train set for my son and the new Kindle for [my husband], Jimmy.
Holiday wish list: A Thakoon dress, a Preen zebra dress and lace-up Manolos
Flowers: I think about flowers all day, every day. I love white peonies from Plaza Flowers on Lexington.
Museum: I often wander into The Frick and walk through its garden.
Personal style: I’m happiest in black Rag & Bone leggings, a worn-in white T-shirt, and I never take off my H.Stern diamond star pendant—so I guess casual glamour.
What do you love about NYC? The architecture. It's amazing that I can walk the same 10 blocks every day and still find something breathtaking that I didn't see before.
To give this season: R&Y Augousti shagreen picture frames
Holiday wish list: Most important, health and happiness for my family and friends… and of course I’m dying for Marc Jacobs’ sequined zebra-stripe dress!
