Summer in the city is really so fabulous. Restaurants and cafés open their outdoor spaces and New Yorkers slip into a more relaxed state of mind. They can be spotted enjoying the sunshine on the city’s tree-lined streets, throughout the parks, and up on the High Line. An outdoor concert at Central Park or Lincoln Center, where Cate Blanchette will be starring in Uncle Vanya, makes for a perfect cool summer evening, as does a classic outdoor movie at Bryant Park. When it comes to sports, boy do we love our baseball teams, the Yankees and the Mets, and when we need to escape the heat, New Yorkers head to air-conditioned theaters to catch the newest summer film or Broadway show, or to our plentiful galleries and museums to view the latest installations and exhibits.
Over the past few months we’ve had some of our own wonderful events. Sandra Lee hosted Gotham’s 11th anniversary party with Governor Andrew Cuomo and Rosanna Scotto. In Sandra’s honor we raised money and awareness for the Food Bank for New York City at the legendary restaurant The Four Seasons. Last month I enjoyed meeting the lovely, talented, and effervescent Debra Messing, star of Will & Grace and now of the musical television sensation Smash, who graced our March cover and with whom we celebrated at Beaumarchais. We share the same necklace, which was created for and gifted to Debra as she finished her run on Will & Grace and given to me by my best girlfriends as a birthday gift, inscribed GRACE HAPPENS. In April we also hosted Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera at an exciting event to celebrate his Gotham cover and The Mariano Rivera Foundation at his new restaurant, Siro’s.

Fifteen cast members, one hour to film them. We sat down with the current crop of SNL talent, and got their thoughts on SNL, potential skits for James Franco, and whether Adnan is guilty.
