The Best of All Worlds

MANY NICKNAMES HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO OUR FAIR CITY, but one of the most appropriate seems to be “the City that Belongs to the World.” This issue of Gotham celebrates that global identity, taking us on a tour of worldwide influences in fashion, food, hotels, and design. We’re also pleased to have international sensation Beyoncé on our cover and hosting our annual Gotham gala.

As the temperature drops, our social calendars heat up with a bevy of celebrations and events. The Love Heals benefit honors 50 Fabulous Females on November 10, and we’ll toast La Perla at its gorgeous flagship boutique November 12 and lust over Graff’s jeweled creations at its Madison Avenue store, which opens November 13. November also marks 30 years of Banana Republic.

But while this time of year is a busy one, it also offers ample opportunities to give thanks for all the joys that fill our lives—and in this town, they’re not hard to find.
