Home Lines and Hemlines
The day I was named editor in chief of Gotham and Hamptons magazines, one of my first thoughts was how spectacular it was to expand my focus beyond fashion and explore something I admire equally—interior design. In this issue we celebrate some of New York City’s sensational homes, including real estate agent Michael Lorber’s Beekman Place apartment. At the shoot, I got to indulge another of my great loves, television; Lorber and I were filmed talking about his cultivated eye for real estate for Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing.
But there’s so much more to salute this month than great real estate. Like Gotham, The Tribeca Film Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Festival cocreator Jane Rosenthal opened the Tribeca Film Institute’s photo archives exclusively to us and penned an essay looking at their past decade and how they’re helping develop tomorrow’s filmmakers (many from our own neighborhood). We also pay tribute to another element of quintessential New York—Broadway. Having grown up in Manhattan, I vividly recall my first Broadway show, Cats; now we’re toasting Daniel Radcliffe as he tackles his first musical on the Great White Way, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this issue and hope you’ll spend some time with it.
