Max Records as Max and Lauren Ambrose as KW

Brooklyn-born author Maurice Sendak probably never imagined that one day his 1963 classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are would eventually be made into a live-action film directed by indie auteur Spike Jonze, scored by art-rocker Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and starring an unbelievable cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, James Gandolfini and Lauren Ambrose.

“When [Jonze] asked me to participate in the movie I obviously wanted to be a part of something that gave me and so many people so much enjoyment as kids…. I read it as a kid, and I remember every page. Everyone did, no?,” says Ambrose, who voices wild thing KW. “Adults discussing the meaning of a children’s book seems ridiculous, but it’s a story about the amazing power of a child’s imagination and the inability of fame and success to substitute for basic needs like familial love and acceptance.” Let the wild rumpus start!
