The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, has exemplified taste, luxury and status on the Upper East Side for the past 80 years, showcasing its white-glove service, impeccable décor and evocative art. But change is good. Designer Alexandra Champalimaud recently revamped the Tower Premier Rooms, recovering and refurnishing the Louis XVI chairs and using hues of butter yellow and cream with hints of navy, emerald green and caramel, which emphasize most of the rooms’ Central Park views. Nero Marquina marble, subtle technological improvements and a commissioned series of etchings titled Carlyle Knot by Amy Kaufman top things off. And with no two rooms alike, the details really do make this landmark property timeless. 35 E. 76th St., 212-744-1600; thecarlyle.com
