As if the rooftop pool wasn’t excuse enough, now you have another reason to indulge at Gansevoort Hotel this weekend. The hotel has unveiled a new restaurant, Toy, spearheaded by Dual Groupe and executive chef Doron Wong.
The versatile restaurant serves dinner and a late-night menu and includes an indoor/outdoor sushi and oyster bar, an outdoor terrace, two levels of seating indoors, and private dining in its mirrored space designed by Jeffrey Beers.
At the bar, you’ll find a large list of house cocktails, including the Tyku Flyer made with Tyku soju, Cherry Heering, lemon syrup, sour mix, and cracked black pepper, and punch bowls for two or six people. The raw bar serves oysters by the dozen, lobster, and assorted seafood platters. Cuisine is Asian, with a dim sum list (try the lobster dumplings) and savory mains like carmelized black cod, Peking duck, and Shanghai prime sirloin.
Dining with a crowd? Order the bountiful Toy Boat ($400) with uni, quail egg, and apple yuzu shooters, four kinds of sushi (including toro), sashimi of truffled lobster, more uni, abalone, and spot prawns, and a tartare of beef and foie gras with sesame crisps. A selection of caviar is also available if the boat doesn’t sate your appetite for luxury.
Don’t forget: there’s also a full sushi bar with rolls and sashimi. Five different rolls made sans rice are available for carb counters. After dining, continue your evening of indulgence by heading up to the Gansevoort’s rooftop pool and lounge, Plunge. 18 Ninth Ave., 212-660-6766
