Posh New Jazz Space at The Kitano
The hotel continues its nightly jazz series in a glamorous new space.

If you've frequented the Kitano Hotel on Park Avenue (formerly the Rockefeller family townhouse) you may be familiar with its jazz series, which used to take place in the lobby. Jazz aficionados can now revel in the brand new bar space that the hotel unveiled last night, devoted solely to jazz every night of the week. The brainchild of musical director Gino Moretti, the new program surrounds guests with old-school glamour for an intimate jazz experience. In addition to the Kitano's support of New York’s established jazz community, it has also dedicated Mondays to jam sessions and Tuesday nights to emerging artists. As the Kitano is New York's first Japanese-style hotel, you can order from a full menu of Pan-Asian treats like sake-steamed mussels and miso-glazed steak—there's also a full bar. Sunday afternoons, the Kitano offers a full-service jazz brunch, as well as a seasonal sidewalk café, weather permitting. 38th St. at Park Ave., 212-885-7000
