Rooftop Dining at The NoMad

Getting tickets for the hotel's ultra-luxe rooftop tasting menu is a worthwhile challenge.

Thanks to a rave three-star review by The New York Times restaurant critic Pete Wells, it may be tricky to get a reservation at The NoMad Hotel’s namesake restaurant, but you should by all means try.

Owners Daniel Humm and Will Guidara claim The Rolling Stones as inspiration for the restaurant’s branding, but the décor is decidedly more luxe. Appointed with sumptuous draping, rich red carpet, dark wood accents, and cozy club chairs, the dining room has a members-only club vibe. The menu is based on the one Humm created when he worked at Eleven Madison Park, and the cocktails—The Suckling Pig, The Lobster, and The Chicken—have emerged as the restaurant's shining star.

Smartly, Humm and Guidara have opened the rooftop not just for drinking but for dining on a special five-course tasting menu ($125). Highlights from the current menu include a clam ceviche with smoked sturgeon, cucumber, and melon and a roasted duck with Swiss chard, apricots, and chamomile.
