TAG Heuer gave thanks to New York on Saturday, November 10 by transforming the pre-planned debut of a limited edition LINK watch that Cameron Diaz helped to design into a fundraiser for the New York Cares Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort and UN Women. The latter endeavor is near to Diaz’s heart and fights for equal education and rights for women in underdeveloped nations. The watch, by the way, is gorgeous, with tiny metal links that wrap three times around the wrist.
Nursing tea behind a black curtain at the Museum of Natural History, where the event was held, an under-the-weather Diaz said with a sniffle, “It’s a bummer, but I never ever get colds. I never get sick.” If we all looked as good as Diaz does with a cold, we would have even more to be thankful for.
Diaz also knew her charity: “The fact that we get to choose who we marry, make a living, own property, pay our own bills, gives us freedom,” she said. “These are the things we take for granted. But there are women who are truly suffering. The UN Women are working on the highest levels to help create economic equality, to protect young girls and women from violence and rape—and to help them become leaders in their community.” Diaz’s fellow Tag Heuer brand ambassador, Leonardo DiCaprio, also stopped by to juice up the event’s star power.
