He's been a troubled outsider from the beginning. Hollywood lauds this actor’s talent but struggles to ignore his private life. He’s been married, loved, dumped, divorced, hitched and separated so often you need to read Page Six religiously to keep up. Let’s call him “A.”
His most famous wife (you know her name) was a diva who mirrored his high-strung temperament but never went down the powder-packed trails he still skis on, n’est-ce pas? Let’s call her “B.”
His current better half has forgiven him on more occasions than the Pope has dispensed the sacrament. She will never be in the same league as “A” or “B” but she has a niche. Everyone sympathizes with the role she’s chosen to play, telling her big stars get away with big mistakes. (Think Mel Gibson or Robert Downey Jr.) Let’s call her “C.”
“A” comes to NYC to be naughty. On his latest trip he got a lot more than the sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll he craved. At an erotic cabaret—let’s call it “D”—“A” picked up a lady who promised him the ride of his life. According to her friends she not only gave him a ride, she also took him for one. After 12 hours of partying and game-playing he passed out without paying his bill. She took his money, drugs and a pricey timepiece “C” had given him for their anniversary with their engraved initials intertwined on the back. I’d love to have witnessed the Oscar-worthy performance he gave when he explained how he lost it. Who else would tell you these things?
My Room or Yours?
Interior designer Richard Mishaan celebrated his book Modern Luxury with a party in the presidential suite of the St. Regis Hotel. The magnificent space boasts a terrace with killer views and three bedrooms. (All for a mere $15,000 a night.) Among those toasting were Lisa Jackson, Nina Griscom, Campion Platt, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Dennis Basso, Pamela Fiori, Douglas Hannant, Frederick Anderson, Somers and Jonathan Farkas, Nicole Miller, Christina Juarez and Marcia Mishaan.
Broadway, Baby
Hugh Jackman got his private parts—the negatives to the nude scenes cut from the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine—handed to him in a bag by director Gavin Hood. He performed at the American Theatre Wing gala with Kristin Chenoweth as Lucia Hwong Gordon, one of the evening’s cochairs, sat with Janna Bullock and James Francis Ginty, who appears with Bruce Willis in Surrogates (opening September 25). Angela Lansbury, Wing board chairman Ted Chapin, executive director Howard Sherman and Neil Patrick Harris attended.
